Angela Sorbo

Angela Sorbo, graduated in chemistry cum laude, currently works as permanent scientist in the Department of Food Safety, Nutrition and Veterinary Public Health at the Italian National Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità) in Rome. She is the Operational Manager of the Functional Unit for Proficiency Tests, accredited according to ISO/IEC 17043 with flexible scope. She is the Director of the Italian National Reference Laboratory for metals and nitrogenous compounds in food (appointed in September 2022). She participates in the activities of the CEN/TC 275WG 10 (Food analysis-Horizontal methods WG on Elements and their chemical species). She worked as researcher at the European Union Reference Laboratory for chemical elements in food of animal origin from 2008 to 2018, gaining experience in the organization of proficiency tests, methods validation (ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation), analysis by ICP-MS and training activities. She is author of articles, conference papers, book chapters and proficiency test reports.
