Marina is a senior scientist at the Italian Institute for Health (ISS), Department of Food safety, nutrition and public veterinary health. Her areas of work experience include analytical chemistry, clinical biochemistry and food safety.
Author of more than 100 scientific publications, she is a member of the Atomic Spectrometry Updates Board. Marina is currently in charge of the Reference Laboratory for metals and nitrogenous compounds in food, set up, in accordance to European legislation, to support the equivalence of measurement results in that area, under the guidance of the respective EU Reference Laboratory, and to provide relevant advice to health authorities.
Marina gained experience in organizing PTs for chemical elements in clinical specimens since 1983 and later in food samples. She has been involved for several years in training activities on technical issues related to ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17043, at national and international level. She is a member of the Eurachem Proficiency Testing Working Group and currently chairing a Working Group to revise Eurachem guidance on reference materials. She contributes also to the Eurachem work on Education & Training and Method Validation.
